The latest update ARP
The research as it stands now is more than 50% done and I am working on the sections that are part of the overall ARP. I need to add some sections onto the overall ARP so that I will be able to reach the pages required. Once I have finished all the sections I’m going to plan on how to incorporate and make my paper fit to be one great research. I think I will work on it for some time and hand it in later on tonight. This is where my research stands. I have also been working on my blogs so that will take up some time but this is my last one until I finish.
ARP as a whole
The research as a whole was a challenge in that it was the first research I have done in this way. All other research that I have done have been short and without poster board presentations. I thought It was very helpful in the way that our professor laid out the work and plans into completing them. It’s our fault if we slag behind and did not finish the sections on time. We were able to work section by section and get feedback from the teacher. Then from that feedback we corrected what needed to be corrected and then add it to the ARP. I tried to do this process and was able to do some of it but failed to do other sections. This is how I was able to fit everything into the ARP.
ARP Annotated Bibliography
Annotated bibliography? What is that? I was so puzzled when I started to do this part of the ARP. I first have to say that I hate citing articles, I find it confusing and I don’t know how to cite of the top of my head. I was able to find some articles that were related to my research on Lexis- Nexis but again they were not cited and I hated it. I was able to gather better articles when I search the psychological aspect of my research and was able to find better articles in Pro- Quest.
ARP Questions
Coming up with the questions was very difficult and very confusing. I wanted to follow the rules of questions and wanted to avoid the double ended questions, the wrong choice question, the fuzzy word question, the cover the world question and the jargon questions. This would make my interview flow easily and would let me add questions as I moved along which it did. The questions I used were simple and relating to the topic completely. When I thought I had my questions covered the person who prove read them would give me advice and that took everything back to the drawing board. At the end my questions were done in class and with lots of thought put into them.
ARP Observation
Something I never knew about research is that it also requires for one to go out and observe. I think it’s awesome to be able to do that while conducting a research. It can be a stree releaser and give you a break from what you are doing, it was for me. I was able to observe the baseball team here at St. Thomas. There was so much that I noticed that I would never have noticed if I wasn’t going with the purpose of observing. The baseball team has a song that is chosen by the player going to bal that is played all while he goes up to bat. I noticed that not all of them had the same kind of music or genre. Also, the crowed knew who was going out to bat before he even got out there. The music was his identity which from experience makes the players feel great to hear people cheering prior to your entrance. During these chants the other team was just looking and taking it in as to be getting frustrated, why? I guess the music doesn’t only affect the home team but the away. When the away team would go out to bat it was silent and that made it awkward for everyone. Observation.
ARP Interviews
The interview that I conducted was great because I myself learned a few things about coaching. I interviewed my coach and was astonished at some f his answers due to his character. First I will give you a background; he is from Russia and has played soccer for Indiana University and Division I school. He is very proper and always chooses to do the right thing and never takes shortcuts. After the interview I found that he is human after all and will resort to any type of help that is not illegal in order to win. The setting was the locker room while a soccer match was going on. I asked a couple of questions but the one that surprised me the most was when I asked if he would consider buying IPod’s for everyone if it gave us a boost? He said yes before I was done! I later told him that I was going to tell him what results I gathered hoping it was that music does have a positive effect. He said that whatever helps a player perform is acceptable only if it is legal. He compared it to soccer shoes where they help you perform and so we buy them. Music helps you perform and so we should listen to it. This was my interview.
ARP Late night blues
The night before the Research Symposium was one that I will not forget anytime soon. I was up all night, something referred to as an “all nighter”. I was not able to get one drop of sleep but was able to produce a board that I was very pleased about. The procedures that night were that I had to write everything I had written down on the computer and then print them out and paste them on the board. Once I had all that complete I was able to gather my data from survey monkey and make personal graphs for each due to that I was not able to copy and paste the results correctly. After that was done I needed to start organizing my board so that everything fit and all important information that was required was on it. Once that was completed, the minor work went into place. Arrows needed to be put on the board to direct readers and most importantly the title. After that was completed and a 20 minute drive, my board was displayed.
